Things are getting better. I admit, the last week of October and the first few of November were rather rocky. We’ve had some issues with our bank account. See, I handle the finances. Daniel deposits his check, I take care of the bills, balance the checkbook, and figure out what’s left. I relay this info to Dan. Dan, unfortunately, does not have a good grasp of the reality that is bills and groceries. He seems to think that his paycheck will cover all bills AND food and we’ll still have tons left over. Or, if it won’t, then we can only spend $50 for two weeks of groceries. Um, what? Decent, nutritious food for three people is going to cost way more than $50.
He also has a bad habit of not telling me about various purchases he’s made, or money he needs for this and that. So I’m left scrambling with crunching numbers and trying my best to cover everything.

…But sometimes not everything gets covered. And a few weeks ago, we had a negative balance of over $500. It was awful, to say the least. Daniel flipped, to say the least. I really, really thought he was going to leave me. Things were that bad.

So for a few weeks he tried his hand at balancing everything. And he found out how tough it is. And how much food really costs. And how much I didn’t mess things up on my own, but with his help.

Sigh.
