I don’t have very much tolerance for hot weather. I don’t like extreme weather, but I can tolerate the cold a little better. Dealing with cold weather is easy – wear layers, turn up the heat, cuddle up with a warm and fuzzy pet and/or significant other, and you’re good to go.
But hot weather? You can only take off so many layers. I make do by using air conditioning, and lots of it. Which brings me to my current dilemma: our house has no air conditioning. We will not be able to afford to have central air installed until next winter, when we will have our 2007 tax return.
In the meantime, we’re using ac units. They’re loud, somewhat inefficient, and require running around and adjusting four of them (three bedrooms + living room), rather than using one thermostat to adjust the temperature of the entire house.
But, I have to keep telling myself that it’s much better than no air conditioning!
