In my opinion, a credit card is a great thing. You can use it to pay for your gas right at the pump – awesome for parents who don’t want to drag their kids into the store for a less than one minute transaction. You can buy items online. You can pay bills over the phone, which saves the hassle of writing a check and the cost of mailing it. You can pay bills online, rather than tear out and destroy a “used” check.
And best of all, credit cards provide security and other comforts that regular cash just cannot. Think about it – if you get robbed of $200 cash, you’re just out the cash. If you get robbed of a $1000 credit card, all you have to do is call your credit card issuer and report the theft, and you’re off the hook for any transactions that might take place.
Of course, credit cards have their downsides, too. If you’re not careful, you can get in over your head with payments, fees and interest rates.
But, it’s all about being responsible. If you have a credit card, use it for what you need, and only splurge on something if you’re absolutely sure you can make the payments for it!
