I back up important files at least once a week. Despite having both a desktop and a laptop, you can never predict when something might suddenly decide to throw a hissy fit, and I’d rather be safe than sorry. Most of what I back up on DVD and/or Dan’s secondary hard drive are photos. I have digital photos dating back to 2003 – literally thousands of photos, probably over 10,000 worth. Photos of my family, of Dan, myself, places we’ve gone, things we’ve done, and of course, the kids. I’d say a good 6,000 of those photos are of the kids.
But there are times when I don’t have DVDs on hand, or I don’t feel like spending the time compiling stuff to put on DVDs, making sure I don’t go over the limit of what the DVD can hold, not messing with the computer while the DVD is burning, etc. This is when I’ve considered using an Online Backup service like IBackup – Online Storage. IBackup is an online storage and backup service that seems very easy to use, especially since its drag & drop feature works and looks just like the Windows Explorer interface. Plus I could do backups from any computer at any time. No DVDs or specific computers needed!
