My eleven year old brother’s out of control behavior is dragging him down. Sadly, he may not pass the fifth grade. And he should – when he puts his mind to it and simply goes to school, participates in class and takes tests, does his work and completes homework and projects, he’s a straight A student.
Now? His defiance and stubbornness has him failing, literally. His last day of school is on June 6th, and I have serious doubts about him graduating.
I’ve been trying to talk my mother into at least considering boarding school. A school such as the Carolina Springs Academy – School For Struggling Teens could step in and help out. Boarding schools are great for struggling teens and their family. Now, my brother isn’t quite a teen – he’ll be twelve in July – but he’s close enough. This past year has been a wasted one, despite my mother doing her best, myself and my husband stepping in, teachers trying to do what they can, and various social service agencies trying to lend a helping hand.
A boarding school – where teachers and other adults work one on one with teens to help them overcome their difficulties – may be just what my brother needs.
