Sometimes checking out houses for rent is the way to go. Apartments, while always available, are cramped, and often require the tenants having to co-exist with other tenants in the same building. That can lead to tension, disputes and all out neighbor drama, all of which most people want to avoid.

I did a quick browse (which was quite easy – hover over your state on the map, then select your city, then type of rental – in my case, a house!) of houses available for rent in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and I am impressed by the available houses. For instance, this gorgeous three bedroom house would suit us perfectly. I am familiar with the area that house is in, and I love the style of those houses. Spacious living room, beautiful backyard, new appliances in the kitchen… and three bedrooms – perfect for a family of four!
