In general, the topic of insurance drives me up a wall. First you’ve got your home insurance. From what I’ve gathered, and from my own experiences with home insurance, you have to have it, you pay for it. However, what is actually COVERED under home insurance is beyond me, as there are so many rules, regulations, standards, exceptions, stipulations and technacalities that the companies should issue guidebooks on what they DO cover, rather than what they DON’T. Then they would be saving a heck of a lot of trees.
Then there’s your health insurance. It’s almost too costly to afford out of pocket (unless you mind going without food, or good food, and other odds and ends that equate clean, habitable homes and clean, good smelling people), but nine times out of ten you will somehow make too much to afford government provided or government subsidized healthcare. And when you do have that health insurance? Again, check out the big list of “DO NOT’s” and compare it to the pitiful little list of “DO’s”.
And then there’s car insurance. Really, I haven’t found car insurance to be so bad. You need to Compare car insurance, but for the most part you get what you pay for. When I had my accident, my car insurance company took care of my medical claims, no questions asked. And the other person’s (the person at fault) car insurance company took care of my claim and cut me a check for my totaled vehicle, no questions asked. Both companies were sympathetic, understanding, fast and efficient.
There is also the less talked about life insurance. I’ll get back to you on that one, as I don’t yet know a lot about it!
