I listed my Nikon D40 camera body on eBay for sale. Yesterday, somebody bought it. Yesterday evening, I got a rambling email from the buyer, something along the lines of wanting to buy the camera for their nephew to congratulate them on a job well done. They then mentioned something about paying $150 for the excess shipping and handling charges. I found this kind of odd, but since the buyer had good feedback previously, I didn’t think too much of it.
Until today, when I got a spoof PayPal payment. The email itself looked okay, but the font size was too big, and when I hovered over the links, they were other links entirely.
So, I got on the ball and reported the spoof/fraud to both eBay and PayPal. I left negative feedback for the buyer. I then emailed the buyer and told them I would be reporting them, and then re-listed the camera. Thankfully, fifteen minutes later, somebody else, somebody legitimate, won the camera and paid immediately. Whew!
And an unrelated rant: Brownie got out today. As I went to get him, the punk ten and twelve year old kids from across the street informed me that he’s mine. Right. Go ahead and tell your mom, stupid brats. Brownie is microchipped with my grandfather’s information, and my secondary information. Not to mention the numerous photos we have of him from kittenhood on…
