I worked in fast food for several years. I’d like to think that during that time, while I was working a grungy job with grungy people, grungy customers and most certainly grungy pay, I did a pretty good job, especially with drive-thru. I rarely screwed orders up, repeated things back to customers, never kept them waiting (unless I couldn’t help it), and always checked food orders before handing them out.
Are current and former fast food workers like me an extinct breed? My mom and I went through a Long John Silvers drive thru earlier today, and I swear, we spent about five minutes just giving our order and making sure the girl got it right. The order? One family meal, all chicken, sides being french fries and corn on the cob. Oh, and two chicken, fish and shrimp platters, with two extra corn on the cobs.
The girl also annoyed me with her… language? I don’t know. I’ve never heard someone say, “it brings”, referring to what sides the meal comes with. Meals don’t BRING. They INCLUDE. They FEATURE. My meal is just that – a meal – not a delivery driver.
Sorry, this is a very sleepy induced rant. :/
