Since that day, the kids haven’t been anywhere near our yard… when we have been home. Last Saturday, for example, I was gone from 9am until 3pm, and when I arrived home the yard was empty, but there was a bit of dirt on the slide of the swing set, and the teeter-totter was at a different angle that it had been. Unless squirrels have suddenly taken an interest in playground equipment, it is obvious to me that there are still kids coming into onto our property and using my daughter’s swing set, despite me yelling at them not to.
I came across home camera today, and can’t help but think of what great timing. I had just been telling my mother last night that I would love to setup one of my cameras (I have two digital cameras and three webcams) near our bedroom window and record all activity outside while we’re gone. Then, when I come home, I can easily look over the footage, and if there are any kids on there at any given time, track them down, and talk to their parents. And if that doesn’t work, the footage would be a great thing to turn over to the police, who I WILL get involved is this continues.
Anyway, back to the home camera service: I really, REALLY think I will give it a try. The service is free and easy to setup. All it requires is that you have an existing camera to connect to your computer, and a computer! Once the setup is complete, simply run it, aim the camera at whatever area in your home or around your home you would like to supervise, and that’s it! You can then logon to homecamera.com at any time of day or night to receive current “feeds” from the camera, so you’ll know exactly what is going on.
Honestly? I haven’t even tried this service yet, and I am already loving the concept of it!
