Facebook has decided that pictures of breastfeeding women are obscene, and has retaliated by deleting the photos in question, and in some cases, the accounts themselves! Never mind that some of the photos they classify as “obscene” do not feature fully exposed breasts or nipples, which under their own ToS is “obscene”. Some of the photos in question are no more risqué than this:
Playing devil’s advocate, I can see why Facebook would be a little “iffy” on photos like the following two, as they are much more revealing:
But photos like my first example? There’s no way they can be considered obscene. Furthermore, considering that most states in the U.S. have laws enacted that protect breastfeeding women and prohibit the act of breastfeeding and thus exposed breasts as being labeled obscene, Facebook should not be allowed to take the law into its own hands and say differently.
