My grandfather has been at the nursing home for almost three weeks. He is doing really well – so well, in fact, that he may be discharged in three to four weeks! Anyway, my mother, father and I went to visit him last night. Since the nursing home has a resident cat and a therapy dog that comes in several times a week, it was okay for us to bring Max, my mother’s Persian kitten, and Squeaky, my grandmother’s/grandfather’s/mother’s/my Chihuahua. My grandfather enjoyed seeing Max and Squeaky, who were both very well behaved in their carriers, and enjoyed travel size amounts of food and water. We took Squeaky outside past the nursing home grounds to be walked, and brought a small litter pan with flushing litter for Max.
My dad, however, is another story. He badgered the nurses into letting him stay overnight. They agreed. Well, my dad called my mom tonight to inform her that we should go back to the nursing home as soon as possible. We have to pick him up ASAP, because he was been barred from coming back to the nursing home to visit. He was very loud last night, and kept my grandfather’s roommate up all night. The roommate, after complaining a few times to the nurses with no avail, complained to the director of the nursing home. Ouch.
So, it looks like we’ll be running again tonight! Ugh.
