My grandfather is in a nursing home. This is actually his second time in a nursing home. His first six month stint in a nursing home occurred after he had open heart surgery, came home, and then went back into the hospital with kidney complications and a stroke. Once he recovered the second time around, he was sent to the nursing home to rehabilitate.
This time, he went into a nursing home after having two toes amputated, being released from the hospital, and then having a severe bladder infection that spiraled out of control and almost killed him.
(Funny, both times these things occurred in August and September!)
It’s hard to see my grandfather in a nursing home. It’s hard to make the decision to move a loved one into a nursing home. Thankfully, there are people and companies and websites out there with a wealth of information and resources to offer you. One website, bettercaring.com, is committed to helping you and your family make the best possible decision regarding the future and placement of a loved one.
