So it looks like Jamie Lynn Spears, the infamous little sister to Britney Spears, is pregnant, at sixteen. I know, I know. Gasp. Shock. Horror. Or not really. When you play with fire, you get burned. She had sex, she got pregnant. And this is where I have to insert a rant: why is it that nobody thinks twice these days about a sixteen year old having sex? It was pretty well known that Jamie Lynn Spear’s lived with her boyfriend (correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t he live with her, with the Spears’ family?). Obviously they were sexually active. Yet not a word was said… until Jamie Lynn Spears had an oops and wound up pregnant. Then suddenly she’s dumb, stupid, idiotic, a slut, a whore, a this, a that. Why is it that she isn’t any of those things when she isn’t pregnant? What is it about pregnancy that turns an already sexually active person into a whore?
All that said, I do wish Jamie Lynn Spears. I think that her mother and father need their asses kicked, because what parents in their right mind allow a sixteen year old to have a boyfriend LIVE with her?! Furthermore, I’d love to know what type of birth control Jamie Lynn Spears was practicing, if any. I would like to think that Jamie Lynn’s mother educated her on sex and birth control and pushed for her to be on hormonal birth control, or at least kept her with a ready supply of condoms and instructed her on how to use them (don’t store in hot places, don’t roll them inside out, don’t stretch them, be careful with fingernails and jewelry, etc., etc.), but sadly, I have my (many) doubts.
So, poll time. How do you think Jamie Lynn Spears will do as a parent?
I don’t know that much about her, but I HOPE she will learn from her sister’s mistakes and be a decent mother! Poor kid.
