At my last job, we were in a rented office for a temporary period of time. Our “real” offices were being ripped apart and completely renovated. Well, our rented office was total crap. The entrance to it stuck, so you had to put a lot of ommph into opening the door. Two of the electrical outlets didn’t work, so we had to run out and buy extension cords and then find a way to not trip over them. And the biggest annoyance? The bathroom didn’t work. Any time we had to go we had to make a trip to another floor in the building. That REALLY sucked, since I was pregnant with Ryan at the time, and had to pee every seven minutes.
One thing I did like about the office was the gas space heaters we had. I know they’re not as safe or as efficient as regular vented heat, but the heat that came in through the vents smelled like paint and whatever other crap was going on in the rest of the building during the repairs, so we turned off the integrated heat in the office, and used the space heaters instead. We each had one, and I loved having mine under my desk. It did a great job of keeping my feet and legs toasty.
