Hello!

My name is Jenn, and I'm a 27 year old married and babied chick. In addition to a husband, a seven year old daughter, and a five year old autistic son, I also have four cats, three hermit crabs, two frogs, a few fish, and one snorty little Pug. I work from home doing a variety of writing and even some web design. I love blogging, digital photography and web design.

About Kitty.nu

Kitty.nu has been around for several years. Once upon a time it was home to my personal blog (you can find that over at Jenn.nu), but it now serves as an outlet for my domesticated and wifey type ramblings.

I’m such a bad mother

Category:

It’s official: I hate kids when they’re between the ages of 12-24 months. I’m sorry, but the age of one is just a REALLY BIG PAIN IN THE ASS TIME FOR ME. And for a lot of moms, I’m sure. Ryan was great as an infant. So sweet, so quiet, so happy, so cuddly. I’d put him somewhere, and he’d stay there. Now? He barely sits still, and he’s sweet and happy but definitely not quiet. He’s cuddly… at certain times. Most of the time he pushes me away so he can continue running around and destroying anything that catches his attention.

Dan and I have cell phones again. Finally. With everything going on in October and November, we let our cell phone bill go. Not the smartest idea, but it was cell phones or food. Our appetites won, so food it was. Anyway, T-Mobile sent my account to collections. I paid it off last week, and got a new account started yesterday. The only bummer is that this time the account is in my name entirely (last time it was in my dad’s name with me added as an authorized user. It was in his name because he passed the credit check in July 2004; I didn’t). I didn’t qualify for the standard post-paid account, but I was able to get a “flex” account. It has almost all of the same features as a regular account, except that everything is paid for in advance each month. So when I get my bill on February 21st, it’ll be to pay for the billing cycle starting on February 25th, rather than paying for the billing cycle that already passed (January – February). Also, if I want to buy anything extra or add services, I have to pay at the time of ordering, rather than have it added to my bill.

This isn’t a big deal, except… prepaid and flex accounts cannot send or receive messages to/from shortcode numbers. By shortcode numbers, I mean those five digit numbers that often come up on those stupid dating/horoscope/ringtone commercials. And… Twitter. I’m bummed. There are workarounds – using Twitter’s international update number, or using AIM or Google Talk. But sending a text message to Twitter’s international update number results in a $0.15 per message charge (taken out of my flex account balance which is there to cover the extras so I don’t always have to have a credit card or bank account at hand), and I hate using AIM on my cell phone. I’m trying to find a copy of Google Talk for my cell, but so far I’m not having any luck…? Why would Google advertise Google Talk for cell phones and not have any way of downloading it…? Buh? Bueller?
