My husband’s brother is really into playing pool. Apparently he got into it from hanging around a local bar so much. Now don’t get me wrong, he isn’t an alcoholic or anything. Quite the opposite, actually! He hangs around the bar so much because his girlfriend’s father is the owner of the bar, and he (my brother in law) sometimes helps to bartend, or just hangs out to keep his girlfriend or her father company. Anyway, one hobby he picked up to pass the time and entertain himself is playing pool.
I need a hobby. I don’t know about pool though. I played pool once or twice, during one of the summers where I spent five weeks at Millersville University’s campus as part of a pre-college preparatory program called Upward Bound. My friends and I would often check out some things to do on campus, and one such thing was to head down to an arcade room. I wasn’t into the video games, so I tried out pool. I sucked. Let me tell you, I was doing good if I could tell one end of the pool sticks from the other!
My hobby right now is relaxing. Working from home is not as relaxing as it sounds, because I am often so busy with chasing after two toddlers! Let me tell you, motherhood is like a constant race… a race to do laundry before more builds up. A race to make dinner so the kids aren’t hungry. A race to get work done as fast as possible so my sleep isn’t cut into. And so on and so forth… Honestly, as much as I love my babies being babies (and now toddlers), I’m really looking forward to when they’re older and are out of the house for school each day!
P.S. Have you filed your taxes yet? My husband and I did tonight. I just love it when you go through Turbo Tax and enter in a few figures, and BAM, your total refund jumps by a grand. No lie.
