Every single fast food restaurant I’ve worked at has been a franchise. It was both good and bad. Good because the companies that owned the franchises I worked at would always have their own ways of motivating their employees and rewarding them for a job well done. Bad because the companies that owned the franchises were usually tightwads, and were looking to cut costs wherever possible. Example: at one restaurant, we used to have a picnic every single summer, in August, complete with loads of food, bingo, and prizes that were given away. After two years they started charging $10 per person, $4 per family member that the employee brought. After a year of that, they cut it out entirely. Cheap bastards. As if the $400 or so worth of food they provided for the employees to have REALLY killed their budgets!

They had a christmas party before that
and they got rid of that. Then the first year after that they gave out a turkey or a ham at christmas time. But then after that they did nothing for christmas. Yes, they did have the picnic but people would sign up and not come so there would be leftover food. So then they tried charging 10 bux a person but nobody signed up because they were charging so they canceled it that year and never had it again.
Yes, They are tightwads!
