Hyundai can just bite me!

So those spiffy key fobs I picked up from eBay? They came with programming directions. I went online and found more detailed directions from a Hyundai website. In about a half an hour Dan had the front console of our car taken out, and had found the box that we needed to flip the switch on. Problem was, we couldn’t find the switch! It got cold, so I brought Alyssa inside and settled her down for a nap. A few minutes later, Dan came in and tossed the box at me. “See if you can find the switch”, he said.

Well, I took the plastic covering off of the motherboard thingy that all the controls and doo-dads were on, and while I found the area where the switch should have been, there was no switch! Dan examined it, and deduced that Hyundai, at some point or another, removed the switch from the motherboard, therefore taking away the ability for the owner of the car (that would be us) to program new fobs themselves.  So now we have to pay Hyundai in order to activate the new fobs.

I am really, really pissed. Is that legal?? I mentioned the removal of the switch to the guy at the dealership when I made the appointment, but since I didn’t know the technical terms for the switch and the box, I’m sure he brushed me off as a silly woman who doesn’t know her ass from a hole in the ground.

Grrrr.
