Last week, on Thursday I think, we ran out of gas (the kind used for heating your home and fueling your stove and oven). I called the gas company, and they said they would send someone out the next day. I told them that I might not be at home at some point or another, so would they have a specific time frame so that I could make sure I was home? I was assured that it would be no problem if I wasn’t home; just to leave the check for the gas payment in an envelope near the tanks.
Well, I did just that. Came home later that day, we had gas, but the heater still wasn’t kicking on. I called the gas company, and was told that because no one was at home, they left the lock on the gas tank on, but would be happy to send someone back out to remove the lock. So that someone comes out, the lock is removed, and all is well.
Until today, when I open my mail and find a $58 service charge. What the flipping fuck!? I am not paying for a “service” that I was never informed of being extra if they couldn’t do it when I was there. Not to mention I never knew that this service was a requirement, as it hadn’t been done in the past.
Grrrr. It’s too late to do anything today, but I will definitely be making some phone calls tomorrow!
