An update to Update on the stimulus checks and IRS Stimulus Payment…delayed???:
I guess I should be surprised that there was no IRS check to greet me when I picked up the mail this afternoon, but I’m not. We are talking about the IRS, after all. Today is May 16th, by the way. The date quoted on our notice.
So, now what? I have more time to hang around on the phone than my husband does, but because his name and social security number are listed first on our tax return, I know that even if I did get through to someone, they wouldn’t tell me anything. Dan has called three times now, and each time it’s been so busy that he wasn’t even put on hold; he was simply told to try back later or on the next business day, and then hung up on.
I’m bummed.
