I love taking Alyssa shoe shopping, now that she’s old enough to be more than happy to give me some input on what type of shoes she would like. So the other day at Target, I told her she needed new shoes: a new pair of sneakers, and a pair of flip-flops or sandals for the summer. She chose a pair of Hello Kitty flip-flops, the type where in place of thong was a wide strap that went over the top of her foot, and then an elastic band that went behind her heel. Well, after a few hours of wearing them in the house, they had rubbed the tops and sides of her feet raw. She has had dozens of different shoes, dress shoes, sandals and flip-flops in the past, and never has this happened before. So since the shoes were still in brand-new condition, I took them, the tags, receipt, and Alyssa along with me (in slippers, since her feet hurt too much to put shoes on them) back to Target, showed them the damage, and returned the shoes.
They apologized, took the shoes back, and Alyssa and I went off in search of a better pair of summer shoes – preferably something more sandal like, without such an enclosed band on the top. We found these:
We also found these, and even though she already has two pairs of sneakers, we couldn’t resist:
Size 10 for both, by the way. The girl has big feet!
