Wedding bands

I guess I am a traditionalist because I believe in marriage. I don’t understand men and women who live together for years on end, get houses together, cars, debt, bills, kids, everything else, but don’t get married. Why not? You’ve got everything else? What is so wrong with tying the knot?

You know, the cynical part of me has a good laugh whenever a living-together couple splits, and suddenly one is being told they don’t have a leg to stand on in terms of splitting bills, money, property, etc. Um… that’s what you get for not bothering to get married! Not only does marriage bring two people together, it also provides security if you should happen to split.

Anyway, that said, I cherish our marriage, and the wedding bands that represent it. I’m proud to wear my engagement ring and wedding band!

I completely agree with you, I couldn’t imagine living with a partner and having everything else except a marriage. It would be weird, and I guess I’d feel kind of…fake. It’s interesting though, because mum’s youngest sister just married her (now) husband a few years ago, when their son was 20ish and their daughter in her mid teens. She had been married before though, but her first husband passed away before my cousins were born, so I guess that’s kind of different. I remember being surprised when I found out they were getting married…I thought they always had been!
