Hello!

My name is Jenn, and I'm a 27 year old married and babied chick. In addition to a husband, a seven year old daughter, and a five year old autistic son, I also have four cats, three hermit crabs, two frogs, a few fish, and one snorty little Pug. I work from home doing a variety of writing and even some web design. I love blogging, digital photography and web design.

About Kitty.nu

Kitty.nu has been around for several years. Once upon a time it was home to my personal blog (you can find that over at Jenn.nu), but it now serves as an outlet for my domesticated and wifey type ramblings.

Pass the ibuprofen

My mom’s mini-van died down the road from our house last Friday night, in front of a house that has been up for sale for quite a while. My brother-in-law thinks it’s the alternator or the starter, and my grandfather has his money placed on the starter too. My brother-in-law can’t check things out until Friday (my birthday! yay!), and my mom won’t be able to buy whatever part(s) is/are needed until July. So anyway, today when Dan left for work, he noticed a note on the mini-van. It said that the mini-van needed to be moved, because the house had been sold and the new owners and movers and such would be pulling up in the next day or two.

So tonight, while Dan was out at a concert with Jason, my mom and I went to see if the mini-van would start, so we could carefully and slowly drive it back to our house and park it here. No go. We then had the brilliant idea of putting the mini-van in neutral, in the hopes that it being on a slight incline at its current location would give it enough speed to get it at least very close to our house.

No go, of course. Once in neutral with the wheel turned sharply to get the mini-van to turn towards the road and our house, the mini-van rolled about five feet and then stopped when the street became level. Fuck a duck. My mom tried pushing, and we didn’t get anywhere. So we switched.

Let me tell you internets, I had a strength I did not know I possessed! With my mom behind the wheel, I managed to singlehandedly push A FREAKIN’ 3000 LB. MINI-VAN a good ten feet. My strength gave out after that, and I couldn’t get it to go any further.

So I went and got my brothers. Ten and twelve-going-on-thirteen, I figured they’d be of some help. Well, together we got the mini-van rolling another twenty feet or so, before a slight incline of the road brought our slow and steady progress to a screeching halt. We tried three times to get it going again, and couldn’t.

Thank god, right then one of our neighbors saw us, came out, got behind the van with us, and the four of us got the mini-van into our driveway.

I’m aching, and I know it’s going to be worse in the morning. :P But at least the mini-van is out of the way!

As for the neighbor, I thanked him, and after I baked cookies for my brothers, took over a batch and a thank you note and left both on his front porch. :)

Teehee @ fuck a duck! I’ve never heard that expression before! It’s almost as good as “shit a brick”! *giggles*

Wow that’s an impressive effort, you’re like SuperJen!

Lucky for your helpful neighbour! We have good neighbours too, although they’re very elderly so I don’t think they’d be much help pushing a van…even down the rather steep hill on which we live!
