I’m happy to report that we have pretty decent car insurance for a decent price. Now that we’re older and established drivers, with pretty clean records (two speeding tickets for Dan, a prohibited left hand turn ticket for me, and an accident in July of 2005 that I was not at fault for*) and a history of consistent coverage, we get comprehensive coverage for both of our vehicles (2002 Kia and 2005 Hyundai) for a really good price.
My brother-in-law, on the other hand, pays A LOT for his monthly car insurance. But that is because he has probably had a dozen or more traffic tickets, and has been in several accidents (though to his credit, one of those was not his fault: he was rear-ended while sitting at a stop light at a highway off ramp).
All I can recommend to those looking to lower their car insurance payments is shop around. Dump the extra features of your car insurance that you may not need. If you have an older car or one that you don’t use very much, consider having lower comprehensive coverage or even liability only. And pay bi-annually or annually instead of monthly: the bigger chunk of change may hurt, but you can save as much as 20%!
Shopping around also makes a difference. Unbeatable Van Insurance is definitely around! autonetinsurance.co.uk is one vehicle insurance provider that you can check out.
* On a 45mph road, a woman coming from the opposite direction made a VERY SLOW TURN right in front of me. I hit the brakes and left a good twenty feet of skid marks, but I still slammed into her, and the t-boning of both our vehicles totaled them completely.
