I cringe whenever I see a baby (I use the term baby to describe any child younger than one) with ear piercings or necklaces. Usually it’s little boys I see with necklaces, and almost always from trashy, ghetto looking families. Nothing is more cringe-worthy, gaudy and tacky than an adorable seven or eight month old baby boy with some bling hanging around his tiny little neck.
Alyssa had her ears pierced when she was two years, three months old. And only then because she asked me for earrings. I showed her ear piercing procedures several times and showed her how my earrings worked, and even offered her clip on earrings, but she was set on real earrings.
And here we are, a year and a half later, with her real earrings. She handled the ear piercing procedure like a champ, and was great with the healing process and allowing me to clean and turn her earrings. She never messed with them, either.
What are your thoughts on piercing your child’s ears?

I agree with you, I think it’s terrible too!
Personally, I wouldn’t pierce my child’s ears until they were responsible/old enough to look after them themselves, and certainly not when they were a baby!
I never thought much about babies with ear piercings until I started working at Claire’s and then became the one actually PIERCING those poor babys’ ears.
The lengths that some parents go to just to get their child’s ears pierced is ridiculous. I’ve seen some children come into Claire’s who blatantly don’t want their ears pierced and practically fight you all the way, while their parents insist it’s done. I’ve also seen parents bring in babies as small as four months old and have had to talk them OUT of their decision.
I don’t understand why it’s so important for some parents to stick a chunk of metal through their child’s ears!
I dont agree with u at all, i had my ears after i was born, in latin america its traditionally for baby girls to get their ears pierced. My mom said i didnt cry when they pierced my ears. Im 23 now and when i have a baby and if its a girl im going to get her ears pierced because again its traditionally in my culture
