Two years ago we lived in a place that would have greatly benefited from dehumidifiers. But at the time, we didn’t have the money to spend on a dehumidifier for both bedrooms, and another for the living room. So we made do with those DampRid things (they were gross!), and by trying to keep the heat up in the winter so that things would dry out. We had to be careful with things like bread, butter and cookies: instead of getting stale, they would get MOIST and grow mold. It was horrible. Everything had to be stored in the fridge or freezer.
Now we deal with dry air every winter. Forced heat through vents is nice for keeping the place consistently heated or cooled throughout the year, but it’s bad because the air is dry. My hair gets frizzy, and I wind up getting zapped by everything in sight. It’s even worse when I wear my wool coat or certain sweaters.
Any suggestions for controlling the dryness and my tendency to be covered with static electricity? Being shocked by keys and cars and poles and shopping carts begins to really HURT after a while!

As fr your constantly being zapped..what type of shoes do you wear? The same ones whenever it happens? Could that be affecting it?
*has no idea but thinks this might be plausible*
