I recently received a product to review — a body souffle. I showed it to my mom and let her try it out (she thought the scent was rather “ho hum”). She asked if you can make this kind of stuff yourself. I said that yes, you can, and you can market and sell it, but it is a LOT of work to get into. In addition to making the product, you need to create a brand for it and promote it. Also, there’s the work involved with setting up a website, figuring out the whole authorize.net thing so you can accept credit cards online, hooking up a business account with PayPal, and covering your ass in terms of liability and such (in case someone had an allergic reaction to your product). In short, it’s too much work for me to take on. As neat as I think it would be to make and sell something like body souffle, or even lotion or candles, I don’t want to take on all of that! I’ll stick with reviewing other people’s products and promoting them, thank you very much!
