So today has turned out to be rather annoying. This afternoon, Dan took apart the front of my front-loader washer and cleaned out the drain trap. It had gotten clogged up, which had resulted in the water from wash cycles not draining. Yesterday I did a load of diapers, and it took the rinse cycle for that load as well as three additional rinse cycles to get enough water out so that the diapers weren’t sopping wet.
Dan fixed the drain issue today, but then we had an even bigger mess: the sudden force of the clogged water rushing through the hose pushed it out from the back of the washer, and a cycle’s worth of water spilled all over the floor. We didn’t see it until it had crept up past the washer, dryer and past the dog’s cage.
It took us about an hour and lots of mopping, four towels, three hand towels, two large blankets and a set of flannel sheets to get all of the water soaked up. The last thing we wanted to do was pull out the heavy washer and dryer to clean out behind and underneath them, but we couldn’t leave the water sit and risk mold or weakened floor boards. I doubt that our home insurance would cover either.
Blech. :/
