I feel seriously hungover today. The sad part is that it is from cold medicine, and not from actual alcoholic beverages. I’ve been fighting off a crappy respiratory infection or a mild strain of the swine flu — my doctor isn’t quite sure which one it is — for several days, and at night, to get to sleep, I’ve found the perfect cocktail: Nyquil and the prescribed dose of codeine cough syrup that my doctor ordered for me. I’ve always had a Nyquil sensitivity. Less than a full dose knocks me out for a good 8-10 hours, and even after I get up I’m shaking off fuzziness and sleepiness for several hours. Well, last night I took the codeine cough syrup, Nyquil (the full two tablespoon dose; I wasn’t paying attention when I was measuring it) and Mucinex, and crashed hard. I’ve been feeling sleepy and fuzzy ever since I woke up, which was over three hours ago. Blah.
