Well, I am two weeks post-op as of today. I’d say I’m definitely doing a lot better today than I was two weeks ago:
When I came home from the hospital my last thoughts were about getting back into a normal routine and shopping and whatnot. The next week? I was all about checking the sales ads on Black Friday, though I resisted a rather sexy Samsung HDTV and opted for some more practical Christmas shopping, heh.
To date I have been able to eat protein shakes, soup broth, soups, cream of wheat, vanilla pudding (fat-free, sugar-free & made with skim milk), mashed potatoes, baked potato (no skin), vegetables, turkey, American cheese, turkey breast deli meat, mozzarella cheese, and three Hershey kisses (don’t ask).
I’d like to say that I have never gotten sick, but I unfortunately did get sick this morning. However, it wasn’t because of what I ate or even how much I ate, but how quickly I ate it. I was eating breakfast with Alyssa and Ryan (they had cereal, I had cream of potato soup) and rushed a bit so I could get them to preschool too much. Needless to say, they really mean it when they say to eat slow! I no sooner had gotten the kids out the door when I started feeling nauseous. I can handle the urge to vomit, thankfully (thank you pregnancies), so I went ahead and took the kids to school, then came home and got sick. Well, sort of. Not much came up. The heaving hurt, but not as much as I thought it would. *whew*
So, lesson learned: EAT SLOWLY JENN!
