So I have a 2002 Kia Spectra. It has 107,000 miles on it, though the last 20,000 miles were put on it during the last two years, when I was busy doing all sorts of long drives and in between those long drives lending it to my mom. Normally I put maybe 6,000 – 8,000 miles on it each year, and I look forward to going back to that average.
Anyway, we just paid $250 for a new windshield two weeks ago, thanks to the adhesive letting loose on the windshield that was in it. Driving around with a flapping windshield isn’t good, and I didn’t like the look of packing tape on it, so we forked over $250 to a local windshield replacement company.
Now there’s something weird going on… this thunking sound that feels like it’s coming somewhere between the brake pedal and the driver’s side front tire. Ideas I’ve been given include wheel bearings, struts and shocks. I don’t know anything about any of them, but I hope that whatever it is, it’s affordable and easy to take care of. I also hope that the problem won’t get any worse tomorrow or Tuesday, since Dan can’t look at my car until Wednesday, and I do need to run a few short errands tomorrow and Tuesday.
Better still, I hope that the problem holds out until Dan’s next paycheck, which is next Friday. While Mopar parts are cheap, imported Kia parts are not so cheap!
*sigh* I swear, when it rains it pours.
