Words to live by, seriously. I’m currently typing this from my laptop, ergh. Not that my laptop is a bad thing, but ever since switching to my new contacts, I’ve really been getting a lot of enjoyment out of using my desktop. It may be five years old, but it has a fast processor, 4GB of ram, and a sexy 19″ LCD monitor. Hello 1280 x 1024 resolution!
So why am I typing this from my laptop? Well, I had the brilliant idea of unkinking the very long network cable that runs halfway through our house and connects to a hub (or is it a switch? I forget…), to which my desktop connections. I thought removing the kinks would be a good thing, since kinks can lead to breakages. Well apparently unkinking kinks can also lead to breakages, because my desktop and network storage device are no longer on the network. Oopsies.
My mom brought over one of my brothers’ Linksys wireless adapters, but it’s definitely not friendly towards Windows 7. Finding the right drivers/modified software for it has been like searching for a needle in a haystack. Or kind of like looking for Symbol LS2208 when you don’t know what that even is.
Thankfully, my awesome brother-in-law is hooking us up with a new length of network cable this weekend.
So even if I can’t get the wireless adapter working tonight, I won’t have to go without my lovely, dependable desktop for long!
