Hello!

My name is Jenn, and I'm a 27 year old married and babied chick. In addition to a husband, a seven year old daughter, and a five year old autistic son, I also have four cats, three hermit crabs, two frogs, a few fish, and one snorty little Pug. I work from home doing a variety of writing and even some web design. I love blogging, digital photography and web design.

About Kitty.nu

Kitty.nu has been around for several years. Once upon a time it was home to my personal blog (you can find that over at Jenn.nu), but it now serves as an outlet for my domesticated and wifey type ramblings.

Almost “regular”

Lately I’ve been wearing some tops that I picked up from Target. What makes these tops so special and blog-worthy is that they were purchased from the juniors section of Target. Prior to having surgery I never set foot in that section. After all, what was the point?

Psst… here’s something a lot of plus size women probably don’t tell you: even the plus size clothes don’t always fit us right. Take me, for example: big boobs, long torso, wide hips, thunder thighs. The “standard” plus size article of clothing is a hit or miss in terms of it fitting right. Tops were usually too short, or too tight in the chest. Or the arms might have been cut on the small side, so they were tight. With pants, they’d be too long (I may have a longer torso, which is a pain in terms of shirts riding up, but I was also given shorter-than-average legs!), and may not fit over my thighs — though they’d probably do okay on my hips.
Even in plus size stores like Fashion Bug and Lane Bryant, I’d still have a hard time finding things that I liked and that fit nicely. That’s why when I hit my highest weight — 331 lbs. — and was just a few pounds shy of not being able to wear anything in those stores that I panicked and got a reality check — and then got gastric bypass surgery.

So anyway, back to the tops at Target. I purchased them in the juniors section, people. They’re XXL — which by Target’s standards seems to run a bit smaller than the XXL I might find at Fashion Bug or Lane Bryant. But hey, that’s fine with me. And they fit nicely… and like they should! This means that by the end of the summer, or even the middle of it, I should DEFINITELY be in regular sizes. I mean, right now I’m in an 18 in pants/capris, and they’re starting to bag, and tops are XXL — what’s that, an 18/20? So by mid- to late- summer, I could be in 12-14 pants and 24-16 tops. Me… regular sizes? I haven’t been in regular sizes since fifth grade. No lie. Hello mind fuck!
