Hello!

My name is Jenn, and I'm a 27 year old married and babied chick. In addition to a husband, a seven year old daughter, and a five year old autistic son, I also have four cats, three hermit crabs, two frogs, a few fish, and one snorty little Pug. I work from home doing a variety of writing and even some web design. I love blogging, digital photography and web design.

About Kitty.nu

Kitty.nu has been around for several years. Once upon a time it was home to my personal blog (you can find that over at Jenn.nu), but it now serves as an outlet for my domesticated and wifey type ramblings.

Did I mention that Ryan fell into a pond?

Category:

About a week and a half ago I packed up the kids, sandwiches & snacks, waited for my mom to come over, and then the four of us headed out to a local petting zoo. It’s set up so that you go through a little covered bridge to get inside, and then immediately to your left is the goat pen, followed by a pen for donkeys, and then several large pens and enclosures for deer, some more goats, a pot-bellied pig, and even a kangaroo, as well as birds, chickens, and ducks.

Straight ahead and slightly to the right of the entrance is a long walking path, to the left of which are more pens with goats, pigs, llamas, even a huge hairy bison. To the right is a large pond that is completely enclosed by a chest-high fence. The walking path continues all the way around the pond, and there are several gazebos, chairs, and a few picnic tables.

Anyway, after we ate lunch, checked out all of the animals, petted and fed all of the animals pellets and crackers, we rounded up the kids and our stuff and were in a gazebo near the front entrance, getting ready to leave. Alyssa and Ryan were walking in front of me, and I had my hands full with bags. Next thing I know, Ryan stepped sideways into a small run-off part of the pond that goes underneath the covered bridge entrance. Right as I screech, “Ryan get out of the pond!!!” he wades in a bit further, then falls.

UGH.

I pulled him right out — luckily even with him sitting the water didn’t go past his shoulders — but he was already soaked with disgusting, duck-poop-infested green water. I ran to the car to get spare clothes (I always carry a spare set of clothing for each kid in our cars), then took him over to the gazebo and made him strip. I used baby wipes to wipe him down — I even had to wipe moss and god knows what kind of gunk off of his boy parts and thighs, BLECH — and then re-dressed him. The dirty clothes and soaked shoes (we stopped at a Walmart so I could buy him a pair of flip-flops to wear) went into a bag.

So yeah… Ryan and ponds don’t mix. Especially duck-poop-infested ponds. Yuck!
