My few minutes of fame

Today Dan and I took the kids to a local park. While they played in the playground and on their bicycle and scooter, Dan and I lounged on a picnic blanket. I was approached by a guy who asked if we were parents. As it turns out, he was a camera man for a local news station, and I wound up being interviewed for a segment on new legislation that will require all schools in our state to provide at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day, plus healthier foods in the cafeteria. I was soooooooooooooo self-conscious about being on camera, since I knew it was going to be aired on TV tonight (and it was!), but I just rolled with it. There’s also an online article that I was quoted in, but I’d rather not link to it because it provides more specifics of where I live… meh.

So anyway, that was the highlight of my day. It feels weird, knowing thousands of people saw me on television tonight. It also makes me feel somewhat of a hypocrite, knowing that I am clearly obese myself and yet talking about the importance of nutritious food choices and physical activity in schools, lol.
