As of today, we have 1 dog, 4 cats, 4 goldfish, 4 Japanese betta fish, 2 water frogs, and 3 hermit crabs. Do we have enough? I certainly think so. Our most recent additions are two goldfish that Alyssa and Ryan picked out at the pet store yesterday. We stopped there so I could pick up dog food and cat food, and while I was paying for the stuff Dan took the kids over to check out the fish. I went over to round them and Dan up, and he sheepishly says to me, “I thought I’d let Alyssa pick out another fish…”, so of course Ryan picked one out too. She has a ten gallon tank with a hefty filter on it (seriously, the tank has been going for about a month now and it’s crystal clear!), but still, I think four fish and the two little water frogs is plenty.
The new additions:
Alyssa’s is the lighter-colored goldfish, which she named Mimi. Ryan’s is the darker, more vibrant orange one, obviously, and his name is Bob. Or Fish. Or Goldfish. Or Homie (my suggestion). Actually, I think his name is still TBD.
P.S. Goldfish make awesome baby shower favors, or so I’ve heard. Just make sure to pick out high quality, healthy fish, and transport them gently!
