Since my T-Mobile G1’s phone button decided to sorta-kinda die on me about a month or so back, I have been chomping at the bit to get a new phone. Do you know what a pain it is to not be able to answer phone calls? If I press really hard and angle the pressure a certain way on the button, it’ll work. Others times, nothing. But I wasn’t too keen on spending over $200 for a new Android phone, so I waited until our wireless account would be eligible for an upgrade.

Needless to say, I do have a new phone now. I checked my T-Mobile account yesterday and found that I could get the T-Mobile myTouch 3G for $150, so I listed my G1 on eBay for $150, squealed when I saw that it sold in twelve minutes flat (holy fast buyer! I love you!), then made plans to go out to my local T-Mobile store this morning and snatch up a white MyTouch 3G.

So far I’m loving it. It’s definitely faster and more responsive than the G1. At first I was really missing the physical slide-out keyboard that the G1 has, but the myTouch has a much better on-screen keyboard, and I’m quickly acclimating to it. And since it’s powered by Google’s very own Android, the only things I had to add to the phone were my wallpapers and ringtones. Apps from the Android market were a breeze to download; I was also able to download apps I had purchased for my other Android phone. Since the phone requires that I sign in with my Google account, my contacts, calendar info, emails, etc., were automatically added. Whee!

Last month Pajama Mommy held a giveaway for a free shirt from Alight, and guess who won? I went to the post office today to mail a package and pick up a money order, and while I was there I checked my PO box, and found this waiting for me.

I call the color sickly-shit-brown. I’m not impressed with this shade; I would have much rather have a hoodie in black, brown, or even “mustard”, but I’m not complaining too much, because the hoodie is fleece, which means it’s warm. And these days? I am ALL ABOUT the warm. Seriously, I am COLD all of the time. Those extra 105 lbs. kept me nice and warm. Now I walk around huddled up in hoodies and sweaters all of the time, and half of the time I’m still cold!

So thanks Alight. I may not wear this out of the house, but I’ll definitely be cozying up in it IN the house!

I am not ashamed to admit that I replaced my Microsoft Office 2007 suite with Office 2010 Beta, just so that I could upgrade to the sexy new Outlook 2010. And it is indeed quite sexy… when it works.

From what I’ve experienced so far, this suite is definitely a bit unstable. Straight out of the package, everything installed fine. But upon running Outlook for the first time, it crashed. The second time, it opened up fine, and I was able to customize options, add accounts, send/receive emails, etc. But on the third loading of the program, it never opened up, and doing a forceful shutdown of the program resulted in losing my just-defined settings, accounts, my life insurance quote and other important emails, etc. (By the way, this happened on two computers: my desktop PC, which is running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit), and my laptop, which is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit).

Since then I’ve had an issue where sending & receiving would never take place; after running through a variety of settings, removing all configured Gmail accounts, and even uninstalling the program; I found that the fix was to be had simply by removing all email accounts and adding them back. So let me repeat, for search engine purposes: if you cannot send & receive email in Outlook 2010, or if email send & receive in Outlook 2010 hangs forever, or refuses to process, try removing all of your email accounts and adding them back, one by one.

The good: Outlook 2010 is definitely sexy. And fast. I love that you can easily add one email account after another. Improvements have been made to rules, alerts, and the display options for every folder.

Will I continue using Outlook 2010? Most definitely. Will I encounter additional problems along the way? Probably, but that’s why I have webmail access to all of my email accounts if all else fails.

So besides music, I haven’t been up to much, besides running around like a “striped ape”, as my grandmother used to say; and learning the ropes and settling into my new job — that I did not need to do a job search pa to find — (I’m a full-time work-at-home employee for an adult toy company). Well, the real settling in will come this weekend, when I begin reaching out to people. I AM SO EXCITED, I COULD JUST SQUEAL! Okay, maybe I have actually squealed, but just a little bit.

Words to live by, seriously. I’m currently typing this from my laptop, ergh. Not that my laptop is a bad thing, but ever since switching to my new contacts, I’ve really been getting a lot of enjoyment out of using my desktop. It may be five years old, but it has a fast processor, 4GB of ram, and a sexy 19″ LCD monitor. Hello 1280 x 1024 resolution!

So why am I typing this from my laptop? Well, I had the brilliant idea of unkinking the very long network cable that runs halfway through our house and connects to a hub (or is it a switch? I forget…), to which my desktop connections. I thought removing the kinks would be a good thing, since kinks can lead to breakages. Well apparently unkinking kinks can also lead to breakages, because my desktop and network storage device are no longer on the network. Oopsies.

My mom brought over one of my brothers’ Linksys wireless adapters, but it’s definitely not friendly towards Windows 7. Finding the right drivers/modified software for it has been like searching for a needle in a haystack. Or kind of like looking for Symbol LS2208 when you don’t know what that even is.

Thankfully, my awesome brother-in-law is hooking us up with a new length of network cable this weekend. So even if I can’t get the wireless adapter working tonight, I won’t have to go without my lovely, dependable desktop for long!

In the middle of last month one of my contact lenses ripped. Of course it was my last pair, and of course my prescription had expired two weeks before, so I couldn’t just buy another box of contacts. Nooooooooooo, instead I had to make an appointment, get the exam, get the trial pair of contacts, then come back for the year’s supply once they were in.

Anyway, since my prescription changed, and my astigmatism seemed to be more pronounced, I asked to try Acuvue Oasys. I also wanted to switch to a bi-weekly contact because I was having major issues with protein deposit buildup on my monthly PureVision monthlies.

So I’ve been using them for about sixteen days now, and I absolutely love them! The right contact took some getting used to, as it’s an astigmatism contact and thus thicker and specially “balanced”, but it works great. For once I can SEE. I hadn’t used my desktop much at all for over two years because the overlapping and out-of-focus text I dealt with because of my right eye was too much to deal with. And in general everything is so much crisper.

Yes, I just devoted an entire blog entry to my love of these contacts. ♥

It’s so funny, because I used to be a hardcore Maybelline girl. I still have over a dozen Maybelline nail polishes, but at this rate I might as well chuck them, because I haven’t used them in over six months… which is right around the time that Nicole by OPI came on the scene!

For those interested, here is my entire nail polish collection:

You think that’s bad? You should see my makeup collection. I don’t have anything recent, but here’s a photo of my collection from a few years ago. It’s only grown since then, LOL.
