I think I misplaced last week

Because seriously, it just flew by. I’m sitting here marveling at the fact that it’s Monday already, when it feels like I barely blinked between last Monday and now. I’m seriously tired, and considering I have to be up in about seven hours I probably should have gone to bed at least an hour ago. But damn, between work & errands and the gorgeous weather, it’s hard to sit down and find any time for myself.

So anyway, how was everyone’s Easter? Ours was nice. The kids were quite happy to experience a sum total of three Easter egg hunts. Having all that candy tossed at them made them pretty oblivious to it by the time Easter morning came around. They each received a small handful of loose candy and six plastic eggs filled with candy, and a week later I gathered up most of it and put it in a storage container. That container is still sitting in a kitchen cabinet, by the way, with plenty of candy left in it.

I am so incredibly tired right now. As is my family, Dan and the kidlets. The kids — all four of them, since my brothers are here — are sleeping. My mom is surfing the internet on my desktop, Dan is playing some game or another on the PS3, and I’m vegging with my laptop. Yawn. Yesterday I feel like I was dragged from pillar to post, as my grandmother used to say. My mom and I herded ourselves and the kids to the gas station. Then to the grocery store. Then to the mall. Then to Target. Then to PetSmart. And finally, finally home. After being out for six hours. I was running on five or so hours of sleep and not enough liquids, so when we got home I felt physically sick. I wanted to hurl and sleep at the same time. It was not a pleasant feeling. But on the bright side, we took care of a lot of errands, bought everything we’d need for Easter and the Easter egg hunt we did today at the park, and some other things.

This morning Dan and I took the kids and went to church, stopped back home to give them their Easter baskets and change them into casual play clothes, and then met my mom and brothers at the park for the hunt. Right now a cake is in the oven, and we’ll be starting a chicken soon.

Case of the drama llamas

Family drama. Ugh. I know we’re not the only family to be plagued by it, but dear God, I wish for once we could be a part of the minority! I also wish I could haul off and punch my husband in his smug, condescending face with no repercussions. It’s one of those things that would feel really good to get out, but definitely wouldn’t be worth all of the grief afterwards.

So, on to better things. Easter! I hate when Easter comes in March, because it’s cold and raw and wet and dark and definitely not Easter-like weather. Whatever happened to Easter coming in April!? This March thing sucks. Easter ’05 was around the 27th of March, Easter ’06 was, let me think… April! And then Easter ’07 was in April too. And now here we are again, with Easter in March. Boo.
