That’s what I thought to myself this morning when I opened the door to find a police officer on my doorstep. I won’t get into details, but let’s just say that my mom is making up stuff that isn’t true and filing police complaints in order to try and make my life miserable, since she has nothing legitimate or factual to go on. I guarantee you that if she knew what Trekking Poles were and that they were worth a lot of money, she would accuse me of stealing them in order to start trouble.

And damn me and my propensity for crying when I’m stressed or angry, because that’s exactly what I did. But the police officer was very nice and very understanding, and once I explained fact and successfully disproved the fictional BS my mom spewed, he went on his way with the assurance that nothing would come of this.

Sigh. I just want my mother out of my life, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen very quickly, or very easily for that matter.

Have you ever heard that saying? Well, it definitely applies to my current living situation, which involves my mom and teenage brothers living with us. They’ve been here since April 23rd, 2011, which has been nearly five long weeks, for those who have been counting. June 10th is the last day of school not just for Alyssa (whose kindergarten graduation is on Wednesday the 8th, which means that day could very well be her last day), but for my brothers as well, and like I’ve told my mom repeatedly, there is NO EFFING WAY I am going to have not two but FOUR kids in my house 24/7. No way. It’s just not happening. So the 10th is her day to get out, and get out she will, even if I have to drive her to a motel myself. I hope it doesn’t come to that, of course, but I also know that it’s possible. Sigh. Drama sucks. You could cut diamonds and titanium rings with the tension all of this drama and upset is causing!

If there’s one thing I get tired of, it’s being dragged into my mom’s drama. Today she calls me up wanting to know if I can come over tomorrow afternoon to “crack the whip” with getting my brothers to help her clean up the living room, since they themselves won’t listen to her without a lot of yelling, screaming and threats (on her part). Then, she calls me back to inform me that my fifteen year old brother just outright refuses to return some type of game switch console back to the living room from where he took it. *sigh* Really? I get so tired of Dan and I being drug in the middle as not only mediators but enforcers and the handlers of consequences and punishments. This is HER job, dammit, and she should be the one to do it!

In other news, I think we had better add a ariens snow blower to our shopping list. It seems like we’re getting 2-4″ of snow every weekend now (this weekend will be the third weekend), and it’s only a matter of time before we get 6″ or more dumped on us. I don’t shovel snow myself, except on rare occasion, but I know from firsthand experience what a pain shoveling is, so if there’s anything I can do to lighten Dan’s load, I will. What type of snowblower would you recommend?

I love my fifteen year old brother dearly, but the sad fact of the matter is that he did not inherit the good skin genes that my parents were so kind as to pass onto me. Instead, he’s been plagued with acne. It just started up about a year ago, and has recently gotten worse — I’m guess from hormones, the weather, and the stress of returning home (CPS returned my brothers to my mom on August 26th, 2010) and starting school. My mom and I read up on various products a a general acne treatment review, and we ultimately decided to try out Proactiv. I ordered a teen acne treatment from them from $30, and it should be arriving any day now.

I am seriously blessed with good skin. I sleep in makeup and everything else, and rarely deal with anything more than the occasional zit that rears its ugly yet thankfully temporary head either right before or at the very beginning of my period. Speaking of periods, I’m currently testing out both Luna Pads and Softcups — I’ll be posting reviews on In My Bag soon!

My mother needs a hobby, STAT. So, here’s the picture: She’s divorced. My brothers have been in state custody for almost two years, and she has only been seeing them for several hours each week for the past few months; before that we saw them for just 1-2 hours at a time every other week. She has no friends (literally). Because she is physically disabled, she doesn’t work. So………. she has a lot of time on her hands. She has nothing to do all day, and all day to do it in. She is alone at a lot.

So when she sees me or talks to me, she goes FREAKING OVERBOARD. Seriously, she’ll call me on the phone — like she did tonight, in fact — to touch base on something like the latest in under eye cream for dark circles or to just give me a head’s up on something involving my brothers, and before I know it an hour or more has gone by. She just blathers and bleats on and on and on and on. And it drives me crazy, because our lives are so different that it’s almost ridiculous. Her: nothing to do all day and all day to do it in. Me: 50+ hour work weeks, two young children, husband, home to keep after (don’t get me started on my mother’s “housekeeping”…), a small zoo in terms of pets, etc.

I really wish she’d find some friends. Because seriously, she is really overdoing it in terms of jumping all over me as a damn lifeline.

No really, she is. Who the hell uses a Gmail password that is very, very similar to flower123? Her, that’s who. I wasn’t exactly surprised to find out that her email account was hacked. It happened on May 27th, the day I was two and a half hours away in New Jersey for a work conference. I got a text from a friend of mine (I’m not quite sure how her email address wound up in my mom’s Gmail contacts) who was concerned about my mom being in London without a passport and needing thousands of dollars to get home, and a phone call from our pastor’s wife who wanted to make sure that my mom really wasn’t in London without a passport and in need of thousands of dollars in order to get home!

*sigh*

The hackers changed her password, and she never set a recovery email, so she had to email Google’s tech support department with her account details and all in order to have the password recovery instructions sent to my email. I set her up with a new password, and we thought that was the end of it. But apparently not, because today she told me that all of her new email was going straight to her trash can, and she couldn’t figure out why. At the time I was busy, but when I logged in tonight I saw that the hackers had set up a filter that enabled her Gmail account to forward a copy of all of her incoming emails to another account (one of theirs, presumably) and delete the originals. UGH. Thank god she had nothing more revealing or potentially security-threatening than a receipt for baby shower invitations that she purchased for a friend.

Now I’m sitting here hoping and praying that I didn’t give out any revealing info in any of my emails to her. I can’t imagine doing so, since most of our emails are about family stuff and weight loss (those emails always trigger Google’s ads for best weight loss products) and general catching up; but just in case I’m going to change all of my passwords as well, and keep an extra close eye on my PayPal account balance and bank account activity.

Moral of the story? USE DIFFICULT PASSWORDS. Use a combination of letters and numbers, and throw in a symbol or two for good measure. Never use your name, anything similar to your online alias or email address, and for god’s sake, do NOT use normal words written out (like “blue crayon” or “big hippo”). Also, change passwords regularly, and do not use the same password for all of your accounts!
